Google+ Local is like an online version of the Yellow Pages, but supercharged.

When someone searches for your business, they’ll find a listing on the side bar of the search results that can’t be missed. This Google Places listing includes the basics like location and phone number. It’ll also include photos, a map and a description. It may also include a review score based on Google user reviews or Zagat, if it’s a restaurant.

It’s great because users a lot of information about your business at a quick glance. It’s easy to see on a computer or their mobile phone. For the business owner, it’s like another website to market their hotel or restaurant, but it’s free.

How Should My Business Market With Google Local?

First, you need to add your business to Google Places. It’s as simple as filling out a short form about your business and confirming your ownership of the location with Google. It can be done in as little as ten minutes.

Google Places has created many listings already, so your business may already be included. If this is the case, you just need to confirm your ownership with Google. From there you can edit the information and make sure it’s all up to date.

Once you have control of your Google Places listing, you can make sure all of the information is correct, add a useful description and upload pictures to make your business stand out from the competition.
